Student and University Grant Application


Aims:
The LPS exists to promote, for the public benefit, education and knowledge in the scientific and technical aspects of formation evaluation.

The LPS student and university grant scheme seeks to support specific projects, courses or activities undertaken by students or university departments which have Petrophysics as an important component, by providing some financial support.

How much;
Grants are set at up to £1000 per year.

Who can apply:
Post-graduate students, studying Earth Sciences or Petroleum Engineering at an English or Welsh university, or Earth Science or Petroleum Engineering departments at an English or Welsh university can apply for a Grant to support a specific project or course or other educational activity which has Petrophysics as an important component.

Application:
Please answer the following questions in a Word document and email to;

and copy to: Mike Millar; LPS Treasurer; (mike.millar@petro-canada.com).

1a. Student application - please submit a concise CV outlining current studies, education history, employment history and hobbies and interests.

1b. University application - please submit concise course details outlining how Petrophysics forms part of the department's curriculum

2. All - please supply concise details of the specific project, course or other educational activity for which the grant is requested, defining how Petrophysics forms an important component.

Awards are decided by the LPS Executive Committee on the merit of each application. LPS funds are limited and an application is no guarantee of an award.

Follow-up: If you are successful in receiving a Grant, we would like to you to keep in touch. The LPS requests that you send the committee a concise report on how the money has aided your studies. You might consider a more detailed report for publication on the LPS website, or presentation at an LPS technical meeting.
